How Many Points Required For Canada PR 2024?

Well, it’s not the easiest question to answer this year. The IRCC (Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada) has always remained quite unpredictable with its Express Entry Draw results. Hence, to find out how many points required for Canada PR in 2022 is somewhat complex and challenging even for the experts.

When we talk about point’s requirement, it’s usually a question about Canada’s Federal Express Entry Immigration System. It’s a point-based immigration system launched by IRCC in 2015 as the medium for its economic immigration program. Now, talking about the point’s requirement, Express Entry has two stage point system. The point’s requirement for the first one is fixed and well described whereas, point’s requirement for the second stage is quite volatile.

Let’s explore the both to understand, how many points required for Canada PR in 2023.

Express Entry Eligibility Points required for Federal Skilled Worker Program

Express Entry has three main categories, i.e.

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program
  • Canadian Experience Class

If you are a foreign skilled worker the first category is the most suitable one for you. You need to apply and obtain a minimum of 67 points under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP).

These points will be calculated based on the below selection factors, i.e.

  • Age
  • Education
  • Work Experience
  • Language proficiency (English/French)
  • Adaptability, etc.

The cumulative of points acquired for the above factors must be 67 out of 100, otherwise, you won’t be eligible to apply in the Express Entry system.

CRS Score Requirement in 2023

Once you have achieved the above feat of minimum eligibility points of express entry under FSWP, you will reach next stage, which is, a place in Express Entry pool. There will be hundreds of other candidates with you in EE pool. These candidates will compete for Invitation to Apply  (ITA) from IRCC. Every candidate will get a point score based on CRS(Comprehensive Ranking System). The IRCC will open a draw on fortnightly basis to select the best ranking profiles in the system. For each express entry draw, IRCC announce cut off marks (also known as CRS score requirement for a draw). The applicants who are able to achieve or exceed this CRS score requirement will get ITA (Invitation to Apply) for Canada PR from Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

What is CRS score requirement as per latest Express Entry draw 2023

As per the latest EE draw launched on October 15, CRS score requirement from IRCC is 440 CRS points or more. In fact, the cut off marks never went below this mark in 2018. So, if your CRS score is equal to or above this mark, you stand a very good chance of receiving Canada PR invitation through the express entry.

However, if your CRS Score is below this mark, you should not be disappointed as you can still obtain Canada PR through alternate options. You may coordinate with a trusted Canadian Visa Consultant to find ways to improve your CRS score in the express entry. You can also apply in the Provincial Nominee Programs of Canada to get the provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residency.
