Prince Edward Island PNP 2024 (PEI PNP)


Known as "the Garden Province", the Prince Edward Island is one of the four Atlantic Canadian provinces.

As Canada s least populous province, Prince Edward Island is home to 140,000 people.

Main industries present in the province include agriculture, tourism, and fishing and about 30 percent of total potatoes grown in Canada are from Prince Edward Island.

Through Prince Edward Island’s Provincial Nominee Program, prospective immigrants with the required skills and experience may receive a PN Certificate.

Express Entry PEI PNP Category

Candidates who are interested to work and live in PEI and are eligible to enter into the Express Entry pool may apply to this Category.

Once entered into the pool, the profile will be reviewed and most suitable ones will receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply).  This particular stream of PEI PNP is largely popular among skilled workers across the world. 

Prince Edward Island PNP Eligibility Requirement (Express Entry)To qualify for nomination via PEI Express Entry, you must:

  • fulfill the requirements of at least one of the Federal Economic Immigration programs:
    • Federal Skilled Worker Program
    •  Federal Skilled Trades Program
    • Canadian Experience Class
  • Register profile Federal Express Entry system and find a place in EE pool of candidates.

There are two pathways to obtain Canadian PR through the Express Entry Category of PEI, depending on if you have a job offer in PEI or not.  Priority will be given to applicants that are living and working in PEI.

Prince Edward Island PNP Occupation List

An applicant needs to have a full-time job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled profession, i.e. NOC (National Occupational Classification)- 0, A or B level. Click here to see the complete Canada NOC Skilled Occupation list.

Business Impact Category

Under this category, the province accepts applications from individuals who want to invest in and manage a business in PEI. This category is bifurcated into three major streams:

  • 100% Ownership Stream (Permanently terminated on September 20, 2018)
  • Partial Ownership Stream (Permanently terminated on September 20, 2018)

1) Work Permit Stream

Individuals who fall under this stream are those who want to invest in a province business to transition to the province on a work permit before receiving the provincial nomination.

During this work permit time, applicants are supposed to start working in Canada and learn about the business in which they want to invest.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Apply to IRCC for a work permit approval
  • have a net worth of $600,000 CAD
  • Have a high-school level of education
  • Have management skills and prior employment experience
  • Obtain a minimum score of 4.0 in IELTS English test
  • Give a detailed PEI business plan for partial or full ownership
  • Sign a Performance Agreement having business investment requirements for proceeding with nomination
  • Have minimum investment of $150,000 CAD in either new or existing PEI business

Labor Impact Category

Applicants who receive an invitation under this category are those who possess experience and skills that are required in PEI’s labor market. This category is bifurcated into three major streams:

1) Critical Worker Stream

The Critical Worker Stream is complete employer-driven and enables the employers in PEI to hire any foreign workers to fill positions that are classified under Canada s NOC (National Occupational Classification) Skill level C or D. Via this stream, an employer can support the foreign worker in applying for Canadian PR.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age between 21 to 59 years
  • A long-term, full-time job offer from any PEI employer in the following unskilled positions or semi-skilled NOC levels C and D:
    • Truck driver
    • Labor
    • Customer service representative
    • Food and beverage server
    • International Graduate Stream
    • Housekeeping Attendant
  • Minimum six months of full-time experience of working for a PEI employer
  • Valid Canadian work permit and legal status 
  • Minimum high school education
  • Attend a PEI interview 
  • Minimum of two years of full-time job experience or education in the last five years
  • Sufficient financial resources to manage the immigration costs
  • Genuine intention to live and work in PEI
  • An IELTS test result with a minimum score of CLB 4

2) International Graduate Stream

This stream is also an employer-driven one, allowing employers of PEI to recruit recent graduates from accredited and recognized PEI colleges and universities.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age between 21 to 59
  • Permanent, full-time, skilled position employment offer from an employer in PEI under NOC 0, A or B level
  • Minimum of six months of work experience from PEI employer
  • Canadian legal status and valid Post-Graduate work permit
  • Attend a PEI interview
  • A post-secondary two-year diploma or degree from a publicly-funded post-secondary institution in PEI
  • English and/or French language ability to perform job duties
  • Sufficient funds to settle in PEI
  • Genuine intention to live and work in PEI

3) Skilled Worker Stream

This stream is for those workers are already hired by a PEI employer. For applying in this stream, an applicant has to be working in PEI or should have an employment offer from any PEI employer.

Eligible applicants should have relevant experience and a minimum post-secondary diploma or degree, as they will be working as a skilled professional.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Age between 21 to 59 years
  • Have a full-time job offer from a PEI employer in a skilled profession (NOC 0, A or B level)
  • A valid work permit
  • Legal status in the residing country
  • Attend a staff interview from PEI s Immigration office (if necessary)
  • Minimum two-year post-secondary diploma or degree
  • Minimum two years of work experience (full-time) in the time of last five years
  • Sufficient funds to settle 
  • Genuine intention to become live and work in PEI
  • Proficiency in English and/or French language to work and communicate in PEI
