Canada Express Entry manages PR applications under Canadian immigration programs. The eligibility for a permanent residency is determined by considering factors like age, skills, education, work experience and adaptability of the visa application.
Applicants falling under the Federal Program submit their online profile to the pool of Express Entry to receive an invitation from the Canadian Government to apply for a permanent residency visa.
The employers and provincial governments in Canada access the applicants by the means of this express entry draw system and issue an invitation to applicants (ITA).
The Canadian Government conducts the express entry draw and issue application invitations at regular intervals.
The Canada Express Entry Latest Draw 2020 was conducted on January 8. IRCC (Immigration Refugee & Citizenship Canada) issued 3,400 invites to applicants (ITA) with scores as low as 473 points in a 1st draw of 2020. It is counted as four points higher than previous invitation round held on December 19, 2020, which was just 469.
This Express Entry system organizes the pool of candidates for Canada’s three main federal immigration programs, including, Federal Skilled Trades Class, the Canadian Experience Class, and Federal Skilled Worker Class.
Currently, Canada is not ahead of the numbers set in the year 2019, which finished with total 85,300 ITAs issued. Let's take a look at the round of invitations issued in the year of 2020:

As discussed above, introduced in the year 2015, CIC Express Entry system manages immigration applications for three immigration programs and to get considered for any of the three programs, an applicant needs to submit an online profile online to the express entry pool of candidates.
All the profiles are then ranked on the basis of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) which allocates CRS score to each candidate out of total 1200 points.
The Canadian government conducts the draw approximately every two weeks. Each drawing has a cut-off score, representing the CRS score of the candidate with lowest-rank to receive an ITA (Invitation to Apply) for a permanent residency visa in Canada.
Once an applicant receives an ITA, he/she is awarded 60 days time to complete and submit the application for Permanent Residence, which is also called eAPR (Electronic Application for Permanent Residence).
Introduced in November 201, the tie-breaking rule is used in the event where multiple candidates score in the minimum cutoff score. In such a scenario, IRCC uses the tie-breaking rule to control the total number of ITAs issued.
The candidates who score above or at the cutoff score and submit a profile before the tie-breaking rule will get an invitation to apply.
Before each draw, IRCC publishes information about the Express Entry pool composition. You can have a look at the CRS score distribution in the Express Entry pool below:
|CRS Score Range||No. of Candidates|
If the candidate’s CRS score is considerably low in relation to the minimum cut-off in the express entry pool, then he/she should try to improve their overall score.
