Find below key Canada immigration rule changes in 2020:

No Changes in Selection Factors of Express Entry

Well, as far as eligibility requirements or selection factors of Canada immigration or federal express entry system is concerned, no major change has been observed.

The six selection factors for Express Entry remain the same, i.e. age, education, work experience, language ability (English/French), Adaptability and Arranged employment.

A skilled worker applying in express entry needs to score a minimum of 67 points based on all the above-mentioned selection factors under the Federal Skilled Worker (FSW) category of the Federal EE System.

International students may help improve economic outcomes of new immigrants

According to a survey, half of Canada’s total 600,000 international students wish to become Canadian permanent residents.

So, it is expected that most of them may become immigrants by the end of 2020. This will be a most welcoming development as international students can contribute largely to the Canadian labour market, and can be the key drivers of Canadian economic growth.

Global Skills Strategy

Launched in the year 2017, Global Skill Strategy was planned to attract top foreign talent to Canada. This strategy has introduced short-term work permit exemptions for a few highly skilled workers and offers quicker processing for all the eligible candidates.

In 2020–2021, the Department is planning to continue to engage and collaborate with all the stakeholders who can ensure that all the companies in Canada can get access to highly talented workers, which they need the most to grow.

Updated the settlement funds requirement

The government of Canada has increased the fund s amount that certain skilled workers required for Canada immigration.

In order to qualify even without an employment offer in the Express Entry-managed programs like, Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), a candidate has to prove that he or she has a certain amount of funds.

Please note, settlement funds are not mandatory for those candidates who apply under the Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
