April 09 , 2024 By Rajneesh Kumar

Canada Permanent Residence Fees to be Updated

Canada is scheduled to revise its permanent residence fees starting April 30, 2024, as per the recent announcement by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). These modifications entail increases in fees for specific permanent residence categories, in accordance with Canada's Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), reflecting the cumulative percentage change in the Consumer Price Index for Canada, as reported by Statistics Canada.

It's crucial for prospective immigrants to stay informed to avoid any surprises regarding potential adjustments to their immigration arrangements.

Update on Canada's Permanent Residence Fees

The revised fee is determined by assessing the cumulative percentage increase in the Consumer Price Index for Canada over the preceding two years (2022 and 2023), rounded to the nearest five dollars, as published by Statistics Canada. Certain applicants may be exempt from the Right of Permanent Residence Fee. Principal applicants in the "Humanitarian and Compassionate" and "Public Policy" categories may qualify for exemption under specific circumstances.

However, it's important to note that this fee exemption is not universally applicable. Accompanying family members cannot be included in applications for permanent residence submitted by members of the "Permit Holder" class. These individuals must apply separately as principal applicants.
