IRCC to Conduct Occupations Based Express Entry draws

IRCC to Conduct Occupations Based Express Entry draws

The Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has proposed a few significant changes to the Express Entry system of Canada. As per the proposed amendments to the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, the IRCC aims to hold occupation-based Express Entry invitation rounds in the coming months.

Occupation In-Demand EE  Rounds of Invitations

Canada has also implemented an in-demand occupation system exclusively for Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) candidates. The FSW program accepted candidates with experience in selected NOC codes to apply for Canadian permanent residency.

Recently, IRCC again indicated that once all-program EE draws will resume in July, the IRCC would likely go in-demand occupation system. This will result in inviting more diverse candidates who can better respond to the labour market and demographic needs of Canada.

New NOC (National Occupational Classification) system

The IRCC will transition to a new NOC 2021 Version 1.0 in November 2022. The new NOC system will entirely change the way occupations are being grouped and will significantly impact immigration eligibility for Canada.

Currently, the Express Entry system needs candidates to have work experience in NOC Skill Levels A, B, or 0. While as per the new structure, the IRCC will clearly distinguish between formal education and training.

The IRCC will offer a new classification representing the degree of Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities, i.e.,  TEER.
