Ever since its inception in 2015, Express entry has been one of the top choices to move to Canada for skilled workers the world over. The Express entry program acts as an umbrella for three immigration classes i.e. the Federal Skilled worker Class, the Federal skilled trade class and the Canadian Experience Class. The number of applications sent to the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada ( IRCC) are only getting higher, and the number of Invitations to apply (ITA) issued by the IRCC has skyrocketed in its most recent iteration.
22,800 new ITAs granted in quarter 3.
In the third quarter of 2018, the number of ITAs sent out to applicants by Express Entry reached 22,800. This is the highest number of ITAs sent in the third quarter since its inception.
In June, IRCC issued 7500 new ITAs- more than twice the number as compared to the previous June record of 3,408. This was followed by a similarly rewarding July, when the 7500 ITAs far surpassed the previous July record of 3202 in 2017.
The trend halted briefly in august when the 7500 ITAs granted fell short of last year’s number of 9290, but picked up again in September, with 7800 candidates being invited to apply. In the draw held on September 5 itself, 3900 ITAs were issued, setting another new record. The CRS cut- off scores in this entire quarter hovered between 440 and 445 and six out of the 7 draws held in this period ranged between 440 and 442.
This trend of holding large draws has been in force since December 2017, when 5500 ITAs were issued to applicants.
