IRCC Launched Online Testing Platform for Canadian Citzenship Applicants

As a step towards modernizing immigration system, the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) came up with an all new online platform for conducting Canadian Citizenship Test. This announcement came as a breather for applicants who were on the waiting list or whose in-person citizenship tests were cancelled due to pandemic since March 14, 2020.

This platform will help IRCC ensure that testing is easily accessible to all the citizenship applicants aging between 18 - 54 years for whom it is mandatory to demonstrate their knowledge about Canada so that they can become citizens??.

As per the IRCC, the authorities have started inviting a few applicants to take the citizenship test online through this platform. The applicants must wait for an invitation for which they'll be contacted by the IRCC through an email address or phone number they have provided in their applications.

Once the stability of new online testing platform will be confirmed by the IRCC, then more and more applicants will be invited by the IRCC to take the test.

?In case, there is any change in your contact information, then you must inform the IRCC using a Web form?.

IRCC is able to conduct a few online citizenship tests for:

  • Applicants who are still on the waiting list
  • Urgent applications struck since pandemic
  • Most in-person tests and retests that were cancelled

Citizenship Test Format?

Similar to an in-person test, in the new online test, you will get 20 questions and total 30 minutes to complete the same. Additionally, all the citizenship applicants will get 21 days to complete their test as per their convenient time.?

Submitting missing documents for Citizenship application

As per the IRCC, the visa officer will not refuse or close any application if any documents are missing because of service disruptions cause due to COVID-19

These documents may include:

  • Medical opinion forms
  • Police certificates
  • Passports
  • Medical exam results

Under this situation, IRCC will provide automatically provide additional 90 days time to send the missing documents and will keep extending that deadline by 90 days until person submit the document/s.
