Latest Express Entry Draw: CRS score further dipped to 491 points

In the latest Express Entry draw held on November 23, 2022, a total of 4,750 invitations were issued to candidates under all-three programs, i.e., Federal Skilled Worker (FSW), Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and Federal Skilled Trades (FST).

This was the 11th EE draw, since Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) resumed its all-program draws on July 6.

The CRS score has been decreasing steadily with each draw as the Express Entry applications backlog is being processed. In this recent draw, there was again a fall of 3-point in the CRS sore requirement.

Changes Introduced to Express Entry

  • Express Entry eligibility criteria has been updated.

Earlier, candidates were be classified under skill types 0, A or B. Whereas, under Version 2021, skill types are now replaced by the TEER, i.e., Training, Education, Experience and Responsibilities categories.

CLB 5 - For speaking and listening

CLB 4 - For reading and writing

CLB 7 - For TEER 0 or TEER 1 occupations

CLB 5 - For TEER 2 or TEER 3 occupations

Level or Type of work experience

Experience in an occupation listed in one of the NOC TEER Categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, or TEER 3

Work experience in a skilled trade under key TEER 2 or TEER 3 groups

Canadian work experience in an occupation listed in one or more of Categories: TEER 0, TEER 1, TEER 2, or TEER 3

Years of work experience

1 year continuous gained in past 10 years (combination of part-time, full-time or more than 1 job in primary occupation)

2 years gained in past 5  years (combination of full-time or part-time)

1 year gained in Canada in past 3 years (combination of full-time or part-time work)

Job offer

Not required

A valid job offer of full-time work for least 1 year or a certificate of qualification in a skilled trade issued by a Canadian provincial, territorial or federal government

ü  16 new occupations are now eligible for Express Entry

o   Payroll administrators

o   Dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants

o   Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates

o   Pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants

o   Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants

o   Sheriffs and bailiffs

o   Correctional service officers

o   Bylaw enforcement and other regulatory officers

o   Estheticians, electrologists and related occupations

o   Residential and commercial installers and servicers

o   Pest controllers and fumigators

o   Other repairers and servicers

o   Transport truck drivers

o   Bus drivers, subway operators and other transit operators

o   Heavy equipment operators

o   Aircraft assemblers and aircraft assembly inspectors 

ü  3 occupations are now ineligible for Express Entry as per the updated requirements

o   Other performers;

o   Program leaders and instructors in recreation, sport and fitness; and

o   Tailors, dressmakers, furriers and milliners
