How Express Entry System Works?

The Federal Express Entry system is designed by the IRCC to electronically accept, manage and process permanent residence applications from skilled foreign nations. The Express Entry manage applications under following federal economic immigration programs:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) - For skilled foreign workers with relevant foreign work experience
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) - For skilled foreign nationals who are qualified in any skilled trade
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC) - For skilled workers with Canadian work experience

The first step is to create an Express Entry profile  and enter the pool of candidates by meeting minimum eligibility criteria of one of the above mentioned programs. Once you enter the pool, the IRCC assess your profile based on different factors and award you with a score and a ranking using Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). Followed by which, only highest-ranking candidates will be selected to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canada PR visa.
