Ontario PNP Re-Open the Main Immigration Streams from 6th July 2020

As per the recent amendment in the Ontario Immigration Act, 2015 regulations, the Ontario has announced to re-open its In-Demand Skills Stream on July 6, 2020.

According to the announcement, new applications under the Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream will be processed on the basis of amended selection criteria as decided out in Ontario Regulation 422/17 (General) on July 1, 2020.

The amendments have been introduced to the selection criteria for the Employer Job Offer:  In-Demand Skills Stream with an aim to address regional employer needs and shortages and to improve the responsiveness to program priorities.

Key Amendments in Selection Criteria

Expanded Occupations - As of July 6, 13 new manufacturing related NOC codes will be added under Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream eligible occupations.

The NOC codes are for employment positions that are located outside of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) only (i.e. work or report to work outside the GTA).

This stream specifically supports the employers who face labour shortages in specific in-demand occupations, like construction, agriculture and low/Semi-skilled NOC C or D.

The 13 additional NOCs includes the following:

NOC Occupations
9411 Machine operators, mineral and metal processing
9416 Metalworking and forging machine operators
9417 Machining tool operators
9418 Other metal products machine operators
9421 Chemical plant machine operators
9422 Plastics processing machine operators
9437 Woodworking machine operators
9446 Industrial sewing machine operators
9461 Process control and machine operators, food, beverage and associated products processing
9523 Electronics assemblers, fabricators, inspectors and testers
9526 Mechanical assemblers and inspectors
9536 Industrial painters, coaters and metal finishing process operators
9537 Other products assemblers, finishers and inspectors

Please note, settlement funds requirement has been removed for In-Demand Skills Stream applicants

OINP Employer Job Offer: In-Demand Skills Stream

This stream under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program gives foreign workers in and outside of Canada an opportunity to apply to permanently work and live in Ontario.

In order to apply online, an applicant must have a nomination by the Ontario government for Canadian PR and a permanent, full-time job offer in specific in-demand occupations like, agriculture, trucking, construction or personal support work.

The position offered can be located anywhere in Ontario, including inside and outside the Greater Toronto Area and the job offer has to be in any one of the following occupations in NOC Skill Level C or D:

NOC Occupations
NOC 3413 nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
NOC 4412 home support workers and related occupations, excluding housekeepers
NOC 7441 residential and commercial installers and servicers
NOC 7511 transport truck drivers
NOC 7521 heavy equipment operators (except crane)
NOC 7611 construction trades helpers and labourers
NOC 8431 general farm workers
NOC 8432 nursery and greenhouse workers
NOC 8611 harvesting labourers
NOC 9462 industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers
