Express Entry Draw: Another record-breaking Invitation Round?

In a latest Express Entry draw held by the IRCC on December 9, 2020, total 5,000 ITAs were issued to eligible candidates. All the invited ones are now eligible to submit their eAPR, i.e. electronic Application for Permanent Residence of Canada.

Invitations were issued to applicants under all three economic immigration streams managed by the federal Express Entry system, including:

  • Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC)

This is for the third time in a row when the Canadian government has invited 5,000 candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence via Express Entry system. With this draw, total number of Invitations to Apply issued so far in 2020 has reached up to 102,350, which created a new record of inviting highest number of applicants in a single year?.

How Express Entry works?

The Express Entry system creates a pool of eligible candidates who may qualify to permanently immigrate to Canada under any of the three programs mentioned above. In order to enter the pool of candidates, you must be eligible for one of the three programs. Inside the pool, you'll be awarded with points based on the information you share on the profile, like your age, skills, educational qualification, work experience, etc.

To get selected from the pool and obtain an invitation to apply, you must be the one among highest-ranking candidates. If you get an invitation, you will qualify to apply for permanent residence.
