Latest Update on Canada Parents & Grandparents Program 2020

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recently announced about opening the 2020 Parents and Grandparents (PGP) Program to further support country's commitment towards family reunification.

The program will open for 3-weeks and the interest to sponsor forms will be available from 13th October 2020.

The launch of the Parents and Grandparents Program 2020 aims at strengthening  Canada's initiative to prioritize the approval of up to 49,000 family sponsorship applications by the end of 2020.

For this year, maximum of 10,000 PGP applications will be accepted for further processing, while a new intake of interest to sponsor forms window will open in the next year 2021 to accept up to 30,000 new applications.

How PGP 2020 Intake Process Works?

Step 1:-

Sponsors have to indicate their interest to sponsor their parents and/or grandparents by submitting  an interest to sponsor form online to the IRCC.

The forms will be available to interested applicants on the IRCC's website for up to 3 weeks, starting from October 13 (12 p.m. EDT) to November 3, 2020 (12 p.m. EST).

Please note, for persons with disabilities, alternative interest to sponsor form formats are also available upon request, like paper copy, large print and Braille.

Step 2:-

ITAs will be issued to eligible sponsors. Upon submitting the interest to sponsor form, the IRCC will review all the form submissions and will remove duplicate entries and randomize all the forms.

The authorities will conduct 1 invitation round in 2020, with a limit of accepting up to 10,000 applications for further processing.
