Ontario has Invited Express Entry Candidates in Two Consecutive Draws

The Canadian province, Ontario has recently announced two OINP Express Entry-linked draws to invite eligible candidates for provincial nomination on April 29 and April 30, respectively.

OINP Draw held on April 30

This is the second OINP draw held within two-days time and is one of the largest FSSW draws held so far in 2020. On 30th April, the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program had issued a total of 307 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates who qualify under Ontario’s Express Entry FSSW (French-Speaking Skilled Worker) stream.

In this draw, the NOIs were issued to applicants who had a CRS score ranging between 432 and 454.

Please note, all the invited candidates will be contacted by the OINP and will be given 45 days time to apply for provincial nomination online.

Ontario’s Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream

This stream under Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program gives French-speaking skilled candidates an opportunity to apply to live and work in Ontario permanently.

To qualify under this stream, a candidate must:

  • Have a valid Express Entry profile
  • Receive a Notification of Interest from Ontario before applying online for the nomination
  • Have a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in French and 6 in English

OINP Draw held on April 29

In a draw held on 29th April 2020, the province had invited a total of 190 Express Entry candidates in 14 skilled trades occupations. The targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) have been issued to candidates under Ontario’s Express Entry Skilled Trades Stream.

In a media release, the OINP officials have stated that, “By choosing priority occupations that are in high demand in Ontario, we’re hoping to make it easier for businesses to recruit top talent in the Skilled Trades sector.”

OINP targeted candidates who have work experience in the below mentioned high demand occupations:

NOC 7235 Structural metal and plate work fabricators and fitters
NOC 7236 Ironworkers
NOC 7235 Electricians
NOC 7244 Electrical power line and cable workers
NOC 7252 Steamfitters, pipefitters and sprinkler system installers
NOC 7271 Carpenters
NOC 7282 Concrete finishers
NOC 7291 Roofers
NOC 7302 Contractors and supervisors, heavy equipment operator crews
NOC 7312 Heavy-duty equipment mechanics
NOC 7313 Refrigeration and AC mechanics
NOC 7316 Machine fitters
NOC 7381 Elevator constructors and mechanics
NOC 7371 Crane operators

Eligibility criteria for 29th April draw

In order to receive NOIs from the province in this OINP targeted draw, candidates must:

  • Have a valid Express Entry profile
  • Demonstrate work experience in any of the eligible NOC codes mentioned above
